Johnson Lake has six picnic pavilions available for reservation, each able to accommodate up to 20 people. There is also a group camping area that can accommodate up to 6 vehicles and 30 people.

Ninilchik State Recreation Area has two picnic shelters available for reservation: One at the Ninilchik River Campground and one at the Ninilchik Scenic Overlook campground. Both picnic shelters are able to 30 people.
