The Kasilof River is a popular salmon fishing river on the Kenai Peninsula located 13 miles south of the city of Soldotna. The Kasilof River is known for its runs of King, Sockeye and Silver salmon. It is also home to a fall run of Steelhead.
Old Kasilof Landing is a drift boat retrieval site only. Access to the Kasilof River is only allowed for active boat retrieval (no fishing, dip net, or boat launching). Old Kasilof Landing originated as a gate way for explorers, fur traders, hunters and trappers traveling up into the Keani mountains and Tustumena Lake, the rivers headwaters from around the late 1800's. In 1926 the main cabin was built and a fox farm was started, after which the Trujillio family took over and ran the site as a fish processor for many years prior to selling the site the to the State for the dedicated drift boat retrieval access that it is today.
