Community Engagement Section
The Community Engagement section oversees and manages multiple contracts, programs and partnerships and evolved as a result of the initiatives in the most recent 2023-2027 Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) and burgeoning vision for Alaska to have an Office of Outdoor Recreation.
The SCORP supports 7 overarching goals:
- Support the Alaska Outdoor Recreation Way of Life
- Make Outdoor Recreation a Cornerstone of Alaska’s Economy
- Grow the Outdoor Recreation Workforce; Use Outdoor Recreation to Attract and Retain Residents and Businesses
- Empower and Enable Alaskans to Lead Active, Healthy Lives
- Balance Outdoor Recreation Growth and Stewardship
- Grow Stable and Sustainable Outdoor Recreation Funding
- Strengthen Partnerships to Improve Outdoor Recreation Management
