Glacier View Cabin is available for public use from Oct 15th to April 15th each year. Outside this time frame this cabin serves as the information center for visitors to Chilkat State Park. The cabin offers stunning views of Chilkat Inlet, Rainbow and Davidson Glaciers. A variety of wildlife can be seen throughout Chilkat State Park and the cabin offers nearby access to Chilkat Inlet and a variety of recreational activities to include snowshoeing and back-country skiing in the winter months.

There is no potable water on site. The only source of water will be from snow, which will need to be boiled and treated.

Location:
Glacier View Cabin is located in Chilkat State Park on the Chilkat State Park Road approximately 1.5 miles downhill from the Road Gate.

Another option is to boat or kayak to the boat launch area and hike up to the cabin along the road, which is shorter than walking in from the gate.

Special Notes:

* PLAN ACCORDINGLY! Access is hike-in/foot access only approximately 1.5 miles from the gate following the Chilkat State Park Rd downhill with about 700 ft elevation loss. Access out is entirely uphill and all equipment, gear, extra rations, and refuse will need to be hauled out.

** Pets must be on a leash at all times and you are responsible for cleaning up your pet's waste.

This cabin has a combination lock on the door. Once you make a reservation, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from Reserve America with important information about the cabin, including a combination for the door lock. Print out this confirmation e-mail and bring it with you to the cabin. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail within 24 hours of making the reservation, please contact the reservation call center at 1-844-351-9733 9am-5pm.

Remember that these cabins are not hotels. Always be prepared! Be sure to bring:

  • Sleeping bag and pad or air mattress
  • Food
  • Cookware, dishes, utensils
  • Cooking stove and fuel
  • Matches, lighters, paper fire starter
  • 9-volt battery for smoke detectors
  • First aid items
  • Plastic trash bags
  • Jug of water
  • Saw or ax, just in case
  • Firewood
  • Flashlight
  • Lantern and fuel
