The Ferryman's cabin at Big Delta State Historical Park is a historic cabin used by ferryman helping early pioneers cross the Tanana River along the Valdez Trail which later became the Richardson Highway.
Cabin furnishings include plywood sleeping platforms, a kitchen counter, shelves, table and benches, fire extinguisher, and an outdoor latrine. The cabin has electricity and lights.
Please help keep it neat and attractive for those who will use it after your visit.
Location:
Big Delta State Historical Park is located at mile 274.5 Richardson Highway. The cabin is located just north of Rika's Roadhouse next to the Tanana River. Folks can park at the far end of the parking lot near the restroom. The cabin is a short walk from the park entrance.
Special Notes:
Rika's Roadhouse Café and Gift shop located at Big Delta State Historical Park is open from mid May through mid September. The combination to the lock on the door is provided when the cabin is rented.
This cabin is currently under management by a third party enterprise.
** Pets must be under control at all times and you are responsible for cleaning up your pet's waste.

Important Info
Remember that these cabins are not hotels. Always be prepared! Be sure to bring:
- Sleeping bag and pad or air mattress
- Food
- Cookware, dishes, utensils
- Cooking stove and fuel
- Matches, lighters, paper fire starter
- 9-volt battery for smoke detectors
- First aid items
- Plastic trash bags
- Jug of water
- Saw or ax, just in case
- Firewood
- Flashlight
- Lantern and fuel
