Squirrel Cove Cabin is in Decision Point State Marine Park on the south side of Passage Canal approximately eight miles east of Whittier. Squirrel Cove Cabin is located on the west side of Squirrel Cove. This cabin is constructed of beetle-killed, milled spruce logs.

Squirrel Cove Cabin offers a host of recreational opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast. Fishing, boating, kayaking, hiking, and beachcombing just to name a few. You will have the opportunity to observe sea otters, seals, porpoise and whales. Land mammals include moose, black bear, mountain goats, coyotes and wolves. Bird watching is another favorite pastime; species include eagles, gyrfalcons and puffins.

Location:
Private boat, kayak, float plane, or commercial water taxi year-round. If using a private boat or kayak, please use the caution necessary for coastal Alaskan waters with respect to tides, weather, currents, and your party's abilities and experience level. No mooring buoys are provided at Decision Point SMP. Anchoring is at your own risk. If pulling a kayak, inflatable or small skiff ashore, be sure to secure your boat to avoid losing it at high tide or surf conditions. Water taxi shuttle services are available in the Whittier harbor. Arrangements can be made with them for drop-offs and pickups at Decision Point SMP

Special Notes:

** Pets must be under control at all times and you are responsible for cleaning up your pet's waste.
