You will have the opportunity to observe sea otters, seals, porpoise and whales. Land mammals include moose, black bear, mountain goats, coyotes and wolves. Bird watching is another favorite pastime; species include eagles, gyrfalcons and puffins.
Located at the south end of Halibut Cove Lagoon, approximately 10 miles from the Homer Spit, and in the immediate vicinity of the public dock and ramp at the Ranger Station. If using private boat please use caution in coastal Alaskan water with respect to the tides, weather and party's abilities and experience. **
In the winter, the dock ramps are raised and not used. Access to the Halibut Cove Lagoon cabins in the winter is via stairs on the beach. If you plan to use the dock, you'll need to use a dinghy to reach the beach.
