Jewels of The Alaska State Park System - Anchorage Area



Chugach State Park is an accessible wilderness in the backyard of Anchorage. Wildlife viewing and mountain scenery are year-round pleasures and campers can choose developed campgrounds or secluded backcountry valleys. The 495,000 acre park offers a wide variety of activities in all seasons.     Hikers in Chugach State Park


Potter Secton House Train     Potter Section House State Historic Site depicts the era of the Alaska Railroad as it was in the early 1930s. Potter Section House was built in 1929 and is the only one of 14 sections houses remaining. Interpretive displays at the park include the huge rotary snowplow used by trains to clear the tracks.
