Ice Fishing Huts - Northern Area |

Huts can only be reserved one day at a time
on the reservation system. If you would like to reserve an ice hut for two consectutive days, you must make two separate reservations or the system will give you an error. During the winter months, two state parks offers day use ice fishing huts for rent. These huts were constructed by the Department of Fish and Game as part of the Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration Program. These huts are for fishing only. There are no sleeping accommodations in them. Ice huts are placed on, and removed from, the lakes when the ice thickness warrants it. This varies from year to year, but generally, the huts are available from December through March. They have a wood-burning stove and four fishing holes. All other equipment and supplies must be provided by the user. Firewood and ice augers are not provided, so please bring your own. Latrines on shore are open for use. Check-in/check-out time is 12:01 am to 11:59 pm. Quartz Lake State Recreation Area (near Delta Junction) Quartz Lake SRA is known for its excellent sport fishing. Rainbow trout, silver salmon and arctic char are stocked in Quartz Lake. There are two public use cabins for rent at Quartz Lake SRA as well. Ice

Birch Lake State Recreation Site (near Fairbanks) Birch Lake SRS is known for its excellent sport fishing. Rainbow trout, king and silver salmon, grayling and arctic char are stocked in Birch Lake. There is one public use cabin for rent at Birch Lake SRA as well. Ice
