Several Cabins and Yurts are available to rent within Chugach State Park. Cabins and Yurts provide a comfortable way to experience the outdoors. Be sure to explore all the cabins Alaska State Parks has to offer.


Yuditnu Cabin

Description: (12' X 16') Sleeps 6 (maximum 8) The cabin is located at the mouth of the Yuditnu Creek on Eklutna Lake.  It is equipped with wooden sleeping platforms, a wood heating stove, chairs or benches, and a table. A pit latrine is nearby. Water is supplied from the lake in the summer or snow in the winter. Please purify all water before using. GPS N 61 23.465', W 149 03.557'.

Recreation:Trails for hiking, skiing, ATV use (sun-wed), bicycle and horses. Boating and fishing.

Fee: $60 peak per night

Heat: Wood stove provided. Bring your own wood.

Stay Limit: Maximum stay of 3 consecutive nights and/or one weekend per month

Yuditna Creek Cabin Location: 45 minutes north of Anchorage. GPS N 61 23.465', W 149 03.557'.

To Find It: 3 miles from the Eklutna Lake trailhead via the Lakeside Trail by foot, bicycle, or ATV (Sunday through Wednesday April 1 through November 30 only). Look for the turnoff to the cabin past the 2 mile post. The cabin can also be reached by boats that can be hand carried to the water.

Kokanee Cabin 

Description: (16' X 20') Sleeps up to 8. The Kokanee Remote Cabin is located on the Southwest shore of Eklutna Lake. Access to the cabin is by paddling four miles across Eklutna Lake in the summer or by traveling across the lake when it is frozen in the winter. There is no trail or road access to the cabin. Recreation: Visitors will enjoy direct and easy access to Eklutna Lake. Users could travel across the lake to reach the Eklutna Lakeside Trail and also the Bold Ridge Trail.

Fee: $60 per night

Heat: Wood stove provided. Bring your own wood.

Stay Limit: Maximum stay of 3 consecutive nights and/or one weekend per month

Hazards: The trip across Eklutna Lake can present many challenges and hazards. In the summer the lake can get very choppy and is a journey recommended only by experienced paddlers. Winter users need to educate themselves on the depth of the lake ice to make sure of a safe crossing. THE CABIN WILL NOT BE ACCESSABLE IN FALL FREEZE UP OR SPRING BREAK UP. The trip can only be made with solid ice or open water. Please contact Chugach State Park for current conditions.

To Find It: There is no trail or road to the cabin. The cabin is located 3.75 miles up Eklutna Lake from the put-in near the parking lot. The cabin is tucked away in the woods, but you will be able to see it poking through the trees on the southwest side of the lake as you get near. From the top of the beach you’ll find a gravel trail leading to the cabin.

Dolly Varden Cabin

Dolly Varden Cabin

Description: The Dolly Varden Cabin is located right off the road in the day use picnic area at Eklutna Lake, nicely tucked behind the trees as you enter the picnic area immediately on the right. It sleeps 12 and is handicap accessible. It has a picnic table and fire ring. 

PLEASE NOTE: Propane is not provided at this cabin. Please bring your own propane.

Fee: $91.00 per night.

Stay Limit: Maximum stay of 3 consecutive nights and/or one weekend per month

Serenity Falls Public Use Hut

Eklutna Cabin

Description: The Serenity Falls Public Use Hut is a multiple party public use hut that is managed on a reservation basis. Guests should expect to share the hut with respect and consideration for others. Sleeps upto 13 guests. Hut is located near Mile 12 of the Lakeside Trail in the Upper Eklutna Lake Valley. It is equipped with wooden sleeping platforms, a wood heating stove, chairs or benches, and cooking area. A pit latrine is nearby. Water is supplied from the nearby creek in the summer or snow in the winter. Please purify all water before using. A fire pit and picnic table are available outdoors. The hut is remote and you should be prepared accordingly. GPS N61 17.644', W 148 58.537'.

Recreation: Trails for hiking, biking, horses and ATV (sun- wed), snowmobile (when open). Nearby Ice Climbing.

Fee:  A single bunk rents for $15/night; a double bunk is $20/night. The cost to rent the entire hut is $165/night.

Serenity Falls Hut Heat: A shared wood stove is available to keep the hut relatively warm. Dead and down trees may be available to burn but to guarantee enough firewood for your trip, plan to bring your own.

Bore Tide Cabin

Description: The Bore Tide cabin is located on the north end of Bird Campground. Accessible summer and winter this large (18’ X 24’) cabin can sleep up to 12 people. Conveniently located with easy parking access. This cabin is great for larger  groups. Wooden bunks, Loft, Dining Table, Benches, Propane Heat, Exterior fire pit and picnic table.

Recreation: Biking on nearby Indian to Girdwood National Recreation Trail. Fishing at nearby Bird Creek.

Fee: $95.00 per night.

Heat:  Propane Heater. You must provide your own five gallon propane tank. Just the like the one on your BBQ.

Beluga Cabin

Beluga Cabin Bird Creek

Description: Beluga cabin is located on the south end of Bird Campground nestled in the birch trees just off the National Recreation Trail. Accessible summer and winter this quaint (16’ X 20’) cabin can sleep up to 8 people. Conveniently located with easy parking access. This cabin is a great way for young families to easily experience the outdoors. Wooden bunks, Loft, Dining Table, Benches, Propane Heat, Exterior fire pit and picnic table.

Recreation: Biking on nearby Indian to Girdwood National Recreation Trail. Fishing at nearby Bird Creek.

Fee: $65.00 per night.

Eagle River Nature Center

The Friends of Eagle River Nature Center is a non-profit organization that manages the Nature Center and the surrounding area. The Nature Center is located at mile 12 of Eagle River Road in Eagle River Valley. The Nature Center has one cabin and 3 yurts for rent. The Center also has nature programs, guided hikes and various other services.

Access: All four facilities are within 2.5 miles of the Nature Center and are accessed via  the Iditarod Trail. All are accessible by foot year round. No bicycles or motorized vehicles are allowed.

Rosie's Roost, Han's Hut, and Pitchler's Perch

These three cabins are located along the Eklutna Traverse within Chugach State Park. They are maintained by the Mountaineering Club of Alaska. Please respect the rules for use of these cabins. To find out more visit:
