Welcome to the Commercial Recreation Day Use Registration Form!

This system will allow you to register for your commercial recreation day use on general State lands.

The $80 registration fee will collected prior to confirmation of your registration. For your convenience, you will have the option to either pay online at the end of this process, mail in your payment, or pay via credit card over the phone. After your payment has been received and processed, you will receive your confirmation via pdf to the email you provide on your registration form.

If you have already registered and an hour (or more) has passed yet you have not received a confirmation email from us, containing your permit, please contact us office using the contact information to the left.

Before continuing, here is some helpful information to keep in mind:

  • Visitor Day Use fees are based on the actual usage throughout the year, and are to be paid at the end of the year registered for. For your convienence a reminder will be sent out, prompting for payment of these fee's prior to the end of the year being collected for.
  • To conduct business in the State of Alaska, an Alaskan Business License is REQUIRED and will be asked for in this application, in order to register. If you do not have an Alaskan Business license, you can obtain one by going to the State's Business Licensing page.
  • In Step 3: Operating Locations, you will be asked which Game Management Unit(s) (GMUs) you want to register to operate in. If you are unfamiliar with the GMUs, you can utilize our Interactive Map to identify which GMU corresponds with which location.

  • TERMS:
  • Commercial recreation means recreational use of land, water, and resources for business or financial gain; Commercial Recreation means recreational use of State land, water, and resources for business or financial gain as per 11 AAC 96.250.
  • Visitor day means all or any part of a calendar day during which a commercial recreation client is present, with each client representing a separate visitor day if multiple clients are present at any time during a calendar day.
  • Day Use means the use of State lands during the daytime where no camp or facility, whether occupied or unoccupied,  remains overnight.

Please note: Commercial operators of aircraft, vessels, or watercraft that access or navigate, including ancillary use of State uplands, on navigable waters are not required to register. An ancillary use of State uplands are activities such as portaging or having lunch, but does not include more substantive activities such as camping or leading a nature hike. This exemption applies to aircraft, vessels, and watercraft that or used for navigation or transportation, and does not include platforms, structures, or other commercial facilities fixed in a location on navigable waters.

Alaska Business License Information
  • Per AS 43.70.020(a) a business license is required for the privilege of engaging in a business in the State of Alaska.
  • For more information, check out the State of Alaska's Business Licencing FAQ's . The Section titled "When do I need an Alaska Business License?" might be helpful for those users who aren't overly familiar with the State of Alaska's licencing statutes.

IMPORTANT: Some access needs for Commercial Rec Registration are provided in Generally Allowed Uses (GAU) and described in the Generally Allowed Uses on State Land Factsheet. Access needs that exceed GAU may require a Land Use Permit. Please contact your DMLW Regional Lands Office for additional permitting needs.

**** Processing of mailed in payments can take anywhere from 3 to 5 business days. If you need your permit quicker than this, consider making your payment online using our online payment processing system, or making your payment in person at the Public Information Center counter.
