Illinois Creek / Round Top / Honker Project
Project Description
The Illinois Creek, Round Top, and Honker Projects are located on state land in interior Alaska, 270 miles west of Fairbanks and 35 miles from the nearest village of Kaltag. The projects are in the Illinois Creek Mining District and are being advanced by Western Alaska Copper & Gold (WAC&G). Illinois Creek is a past-producing gold-silver oxide mine with a reclaimed run-of-mine heap leach pad that operated between 1997 and 2002. WAC&G is developing a new mine plan for the Illinois Creek Mine, while conducting exploration of the Round Top (copper silver molybdenum porphyry) and Honker (low sulfide gold) prospects.
WAC&G is a private company with 100% ownership of the Honker and Round Top claims and the right to acquire 100% interest in Illinois Creek gold deposit. The total land holdings consist of 166 state mining claims on 26,560 acres. The site currently benefits from existing infrastructure associated with the former Illinois Creek Mine, including mine access roads, an airstrip, camp facilities, and a winter access road from the mine to the Yukon River.
