Today's Fire Danger
Low
Fires do not ignite readily from small firebrands but may from more intense heat sources. Weather and fuel conditions will lead to slow fire spread and new fires will be relatively easy to control.
Title: Burn Permits no Longer Required
Start Date: 09/01/2025
End Date: 04/01/2026
Description:
Thanks for helping to successfully get through another fire season fellow Alaskans. As of September 1st, we no longer require burn permits. Permits will be back in effect as of April 1st 2026. While you no longer need a permit outside of Alaska fire season, you must still attend your fire, have it in a safe place, not leave before it is fully extinguished and not burn materials that produce black, obnoxious, or toxic smoke. Be safe this fall and winter. If you have any questions about winter burning or large scale burns in the Matsu area please call 907-761-6305
