Today's Fire Danger
High
All dead fuels ignite readily, and fires will start easily from most causes. Unattended or unsafe fires are likely to escape. Fires spread rapidly and may become serious and difficult to control unless they are attacked aggressively while small.
Title: Burn Permits Suspended
Start Date: 06/21/2024
End Date: TBD
Description:
The Matanuska-Susitna valley will be entering into a burn permit suspension at 0600am on Saturday June 22nd. This is due to above average temperatures and red flag warning conditions. A burn permit suspension means no burning of burn barrels, debris piles, or lawn burns. Campfires smaller than 3ft in diameter for the purpose of warming, cooking, or signaling are still allowed. Adequate clearance away from combustibles and attendance until cold to the touch are still required for campfires. Any approved fire, even a small one should be undertaken with extreme caution and vigilance at this time of year.
Thank you for your compliance in getting through the 2024 fire season safely.
