Today's Fire Danger

High

All dead fuels ignite readily, and fires will start easily from most causes. Unattended or unsafe fires are likely to escape. Fires spread rapidly and may become serious and difficult to control unless they are attacked aggressively while small.

Title: Burn Permit Suspension

Start Date: 06/21/2025

End Date: TBD

Description:

The Matanuska-Susitna valley will be entering into a burn permit suspension at 0900am on Saturday June 21st.  This is due to above average temperatures and persistent drought conditions, as well as multiple large fires currently burning in the state of Alaska.  A burn permit suspension means no burning of burn barrels, debris piles, or lawn burns.  Campfires smaller than 3ft in diameter for the purpose of warming, cooking, or signaling are still allowed.  Adequate clearance away from combustibles and attendance until cold to the touch are still required for campfires.  Any approved fire, even a small one should be undertaken with extreme caution and vigilance at this time of year.

Thank you for your compliance in getting through the 2025 fire season safely.
