🔥 Early Fire Season Declared in Parts of Alaska – Burn Permits Required Starting March 17 🔥

Due to warm temperatures and low snowpack, wildfire risk is rising across southern and coastal parts of Alaska. The Alaska Division of Forestry & Fire Protection (DOF) has declared an early start to fire season in areas within the DOF Coastal Region and Southeast Alaska. Burn permits will be required starting March 17, 2025.

Affected areas include:

Mat-Su DOF protection area

Kenai-Kodiak DOF protection area

McGrath-Southwest DOF protection area

Copper River-Valdez DOF protection area

All of Southeast Alaska

 



Burn Permits are required from April 1st - August 31st
