Remote Recreational Cabin Sites Staking Program

RRCS Offering #17

Only current Alaska residents are eligible to participate in the Remote Recreational Cabin Sites Staking Program. This program allows Alaska residents to stake a parcel of state land in a designated RRCS Staking area, lease the land until DNR completes the survey and appraisal, and then purchase the land at appraised market value. Before accepting applications to the Remote Recreational Cabin Sites (RRCS) staking program, DNR identifies areas that will be opened for staking. This year, 2 areas are being offered: Lost Creek II, approximately 75 miles north of Fairbanks on the north side of the Dalton Highway and about 2 miles west of the intersection with the Elliott Highway, and Selatna II, approximately 30 miles southwest of McGrath and 57 miles northeast of Stony River, along the Kuskokwim and Selatna Rivers. In order to purchase a parcel in this program, you must apply in the drawing, win a staking authorization, stake a parcel on the ground, submit a lease application, enter a 3-year lease, make lease payments (while the parcel is surveyed and appraised), and at the end of the lease you may purchase the parcel. Financing is available. Before applying, please read the information and brochure in its entirety, to see if you qualify, and to make sure that this is the right program for you.
