Today, the Department of Natural Resources announced an added meeting on February 25th to the schedule of public workshops to address the standards for coalbed methane development in the Mat-Su Valley. The first of the series of meetings was held on Wednesday, January 28th.
Following is the revised schedule:
Wednesday, February 18, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Surface Impact Issues Part 1
Meeting location: Teeland Middle School, 2788 N. Seward Meridian, Wasilla
Wednesday, February 25, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Surface Impact Issues Part 2
Meeting location: Cottonwood Creek Elementary School, 800 N. Seward Meridian, Wasilla
Saturday, February 28, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Water Management and Drinking Water Protection Issues
Meeting location: Willow Community Center, Mile 69.7 Parks Highway
The public workshops are intended to produce recommendations to DNR for standards guiding decision-making related to coalbed methane leases in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. Additionally, the workshops will recommend standards to Department of Environmental Conservation, Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough for their respective decision-making.
