State issues annual report on its geological activities

(Anchorage, AK) – The Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys this month released its 2017 Annual Report.

The 52-page report details the division’s 2017 activities throughout Alaska and its notable achievements. “Our division works on geology touching the lives of all Alaskans – from evaluating our hydrocarbon and mineral resource potential to issuing volcano eruption alerts and monitoring coastal erosion,” said Division Director Steve Masterman.

The Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys has six sections focusing on: energy resources, mineral resources, engineering geology, geologic information (publications and data), geologic materials (the Geologic Materials Center in Anchorage), and volcanology.
