The Alaska State Legislature designated 1994-2004 the Alaska Gold Rush Centennial Decade. The Office of History and Archaeology has
promoted the 100th anniversaries of gold discoveries that took place around Alaska and coordinated the state's commemoration
programs.
The Office of History and Archaeology (OHA) has materials, developed in cooperation with other agencies and groups, to promote
understanding of the Gold Rush era in Alaska's history. An Alaska Gold Rush Trails and Time Line brochure, with major events,
notes on participants, and a map showing routes of travel and the progression of gold discoveries in Alaska and the Yukon is
available from the office. Other materials available from OHA include a guide to researching a Gold Rush participant, a selected
reading list, and a chronology. An on-line documents-based teaching package, Alaska's Gold, has been developed by the Alaska
Division of Archives, Libraries and Museums, Department of Education and Early Development.
