Alaska Heritage Resources Survey (AHRS):
Instructions For Data Form Completion

The following items are expected to be filled out on the Alaska Heritage Resources Survey (AHRS) form or otherwise provided:

SITE NAME:
Historic or common name of the site, district, building, structure, or object; place secondary names within parentheses.

SITE DESCRIPTION:
Describe the physical characteristics of the remains present so that an investigator can recognize the site. If a structure or building, particularly describe the construction type, dimensions, appearance, and present condition. If an archaeological site, describe the approximate site area, the number, shape, and dimensions of surface features, the stratigraphy if exposed, and any artifacts which may be present.

SIGNIFICANCE:
Briefly describe the potential significance of the property.

LOCATION:
The location must be mappable; try to describe from smallest to largest frame of reference. For historic structures give street address and Lot and Block, if available.

MAP SHEET:
USGS 1:63,360 map sheet within quadrangle.

ALIQUOT:
Aliquot part, Section, Township, Range, Meridian.

CITATIONS:
Bibliographic references: the source of this and other information pertinent to the site.

PERTINENT DATES:
Associated date(s) such as: AD 1927, AD 1930s, AD 1926-1937, BP 3359+/-280, BC 2000, etc.

PROPERTY OWNER:
Owner of record, if known.

NOTE: A map location must be provided for a site to be entered on the AHRS. At a minimum, this would be a photocopy of a USGS 1:63,360 map with the site precisely located with a small dot. If a historic building within a town or city, the location should be plotted on a plat map, if available.

Acrobat Reader can be downloaded for free by clicking on the "Get Acrobat" button below. Follow the instructions and choose the the appropriate type of Acrobat Reader for your computer. Once Acrobat Reader is on the computer, click on the data form title below to access the document.
