How to Get There:
Visitors to Ft. Abercrombie State Historic Park must first get to Kodiak Island, which is serviced by commercial air carriers (Alaska Airlines or ERA Aviation) and by state ferry. The ferry Tustemena out of Homer and the ferry Kennicott out of Homer and Whittier can transport cars, truck and campers. Call the Alaska Marine Highway System at 800-642-0066 for ferry schedules, prices and reservations or visit the website: www.akferry.org. From the airport or ferry terminal, those who bring their own vehicle or rent one may drive east on Rezanof Drive to the park entrance, located 3.5 miles from the town of Kodiak.

Trail Description:
This well-maintained system of trails winds along scenic ocean cliffs, past a freshwater lake, into a mature Sitka Spruce forest, through brilliant wildflower meadows and past the remnants of a WWII coast defense site. Recent trail inprovements include boardwalks, bridges, new trail construction and re-construction of eroding section of trail that encicles the freshwater lake.
