Hatcher Pass Management Plan

  • Recreational Conflict Incident Reporting Form.
  • On November 17, 2010 the Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) adopted the Hatcher Pass Management Plan (HPMP). The plan establishes land use designations, management intent and management guidelines for 295,000 million acres of state lands This plan supersedes the 1986 Hatcher Pass Management Plan and 1989 Plan Amendment.

After plan adoption in 2010 there was a request for reconsideration. A document titled "Commissioner's Decision on Request for Reconsideration" explains the issues raised and the resultant changes to the plan. Another titled "Issue Response Summary" reflects changes made during the earlier public review stage. On March 12, 2012, the Commissioner adopted a Plan Amendment to reflect the revised management unit boundaries for the Government Peak and Bald Mountain/Hillside Management Units as a result of a municipal land exchange between the state and Mat-Su Borough.

Copies of the final plan are available for reference at local libraries. Printed copies of the final plan can be purchased from the DNR Public Information Center in the Robert B. Atwood Building at 550 West 7th Avenue, Suite 1260, Anchorage, AK 99501. If you would like a CD containing the final plan to be mailed to you, or for questions please contact Philana Miles at Philana.Miles@alaska.gov.

The regulations for the HPMP area have been revised and were adopted on December 21, 2012. The new regulations will be effective beginning January 20, 2013. The revised HPMP regulations are available via this link: HPMP Regulations 2013.
