Guide Use Area Maps

In front of you is one set of 6 maps displaying the proposed changes to the Guide Use Area boundaries. The maps are labeled "October 2008 Draft Map" and include 5 regional maps and 1 statewide map.

These maps are a final draft including the Guide Use Area (GUA) boundary changes requested by industry at the Big Game Commercial Services Board Meeting in Fairbanks, March 2008 and changes based on agency review and comment from mid-August 2008.

  • Red - Existing GUA boundaries
  • Salmon - Proposed GUA boundaries
  • Green - ADF&G Game Management Unit boundary  (unchanged)
  • Gray - ADF&G Uniform Coding Unit boundary  (unchanged)

Additionally; the following updates have been made:
  • GUA boundaries have been moved approximately 3 miles off shore (where appropriate) to ensure complete coverage of all uplands and tidelands within a specific GUA.
  • Where existing GUA boundaries did not clearly follow the Uniform Coding Units (UCU) but appeared that that was the intent. The GUA boundaries have been moved to the closest UCU statewide.
  • Land status has been updated to reflect the most accurate ownership status available. (at this scale)
