DNR Initiatives
The Department of Natural Resources is working on a wide range of initiatives to promote development and public use of the state's natural resources. Here are several of our major efforts.
Secure Alaska's Future - Oil
Increase the flow of oil through the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) to 1 million barrels per day within a decade.
Secure Alaska's Future - Strategic Minerals
Assess the potential for rare earth elements and other strategic minerals on state land with the ultimate goal of creating a new job base in Alaska and boosting the domestic supply of these raw materials.
Permitting Reform
Eliminate the backlog of incoming land and water use permits; restructure and simplify the complex system for oil and gas development projects.
Boating Safety
Save lives of Alaska residents and visitors by promoting safe recreational boating behavior.
Gas Pipeline
Bring Alaska's massive, undeveloped natural gas resources on the North Slope to market.
Arts in the Parks
Foster artistic appreciation of the scenic beauty of Alaska State Parks, through sponsorship of special events held across the state.
Alaska Grown
Increase consumer awareness and consumption of Alaska agricultural products.
