REQUIREMENTS:  Members, if not legislators, must represent diversity of users and uses of federal land in the state.

 

PROHIBITIONS:  None

 

TERM:  4 years if Governor appointed; 2 years if legislator appointed; or if appointee is a member of the legislature, for the appointees term of office.

 

DESCRIPTIONS: 12 members – 6 appointed by Governor; 1 appointed by speaker of house from the state house membership and 2 residents of the state; senate president appoints 1 from the senate membership and 2 residents of the state. Commission selects a president and other officers. Appointees represent a reasonable geographic balance among regions of the state.

 

FUNCTION:  Commission considers the consistency of federal law and congressional intent on management, operation, planning, development, and additions to federal management areas in the state
