Division of Coastal and Ocean Management (DCOM) |
The Division of Coastal and Ocean Management within the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, administers the Alaska Coastal Management Program, and participates in natural resource management issues that complement its coastal management responsibilities. |
Alaska Coastal Management Program Working Group (ACMPWG) |
The ACMPWG is composed of four regional coastal district representatives, two Division of Coastal and Ocean Management staff, and the ACMP coordinator for each of the state agencies in the ACMP network: Department of Fish and Game, Department of Environmental Conservation, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Community and Economic Development, Department of Transportation and Department of Law. |
Local Coastal District Coordinators |
Alaska has 35 coastal districts that span over 44,000 miles of coast. 31 coastal districts are within a municipality and 4 are outside the boundaries of organized government. 28 of these have approved local coastal management programs. Each of the coastal districts has a local ACMP coordinator responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing the local coastal program within the framework of the ACMP. |
Alaska State Agency Coastal Project Review Staff (CPQ Contacts)
|
The state resource agency permitting staff participate in review of proposed projects for consistency with the ACMP, monitor compliance to ensure that projects adhere to permit requirements, and participate in special ACMP projects as needed. When project appicants fill out a Coastal Project Questionnaire (CPQ) they are given a list of state agency contacts they can contact with questions about coastal resources, uses, and hazards. This list is called the CPQ Contacts document and is maintained by the Division of Coastal and Ocean Management project review staff. |
