2009 Amendment Submitted to MMS
On November 9, 2009 the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Coastal and Ocean Management submitted the 2009 Amendment to the Approved 2008 Alaska CIAP Plan to the U.S. Department of Interior, Minerals Management Service (MMS) for review and approval. This 2009 Amendment includes
- $27,509,220 of the $51,865,939 available in direct to state portion of CIAP funds, and
- $27,927,814 in direct to coastal political subdivisions (CPS) portion of CIAP funds.
2009 Amendment to the Alaska CIAP Plan
Within 90 days, MMS will notify the state that the plan, and the projects within it, are approved, disapproved, require revisions, or remain under review.
Once the plan is approved, DCOM and the CPSs can submit grant applications to MMS for the approved state and CPS projects, respectively.

Future Plan Amendments
DCOM will submit a second amendment to the Alaska CIAP Plan in fall 2010. The 2010 Amendment will include the remaining $24,356,719 allocated to the State of Alaska and will include projects solicited competitively from the public and from legislatively names municipalities and coastal resource service areas. The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development is the lead agency in soliciting these projects. Please click here for more information on their solicitation process.
